A fun morning at RU!
More Survival activities!
What a day! The Survival Interest Group got a review of the big three (water, food, protection) via stories and scenarios, water tricks, building a fire, edible plants, roasting yummies, making traps, and ending the day with reflections and boiling forest foraged leaves for blackberry tea.
Geocaching Interest Group!
We had a great and mostly successful Geocaching trip to Severson Dells this week. Grids, maps, orienteering, problem solving and treasure hunting were our challenges this week in our Geocaching Interest Group!
Tent Setup!
Problem solving, communication, and teamwork involved in setting up a tent. Now, to move it away from the fire, and use lessons from tent design to inform lean-to building!
Starting a fire and spear launching, what could go wrong?!
Filtering river water with a homemade filter of activated charcoal and sand!
Fantastic Foodies Interest Group!
Wow! What an amazing culmination of our interest group week for the Fantastic Foodies! I am SO proud of my 7 culinary explorers. Their creations were all a hit at project showcase night and they had a blast enjoying the best way we humans connect: through the sharing of food.
