There have been several instances this last few weeks where the idea of “parent community” is on the table, with various statements related to how busy people are these days, how the pandemic sort of decimated parent involvement, how there is just too much going on for families to “go back” to the days where you connected with the parents of your children’s classmates regularly about projects or assignments. Not long ago parents helped plan and coordinate and most participated in school events and fundraisers.
Spectrum old-timers talk about the lasting friendships they formed with each other at these events, or just by having kids wanting to get together, creating opportunities for parents to socialize and connect.
Do we want to put time and energy into creating opportunities for these connections? Do we want to bring back an active Spectrum Parent Organization which pulls together school community events and opportunities, play dates, and/or fundraisers for school programs?
Email me if you are excited about taking some leadership in this potential endeavor.
