Dear Spectrum Families and Friends,
The last weeks of August are always bittersweet – sighing inevitable goodbyes to sun-soaking, sleeping in, and summer amusements…but the sweet is having back routines and structures (which will help with eating and sleeping for me, I know), being together as a community, and enjoying the sights and sounds of learning with others.
It is also crunch time for teachers and staff. Cleaning up, organizing all the “stuff” of classroom life, brainstorming and resourcing units of inquiry, solidifying team connections, bringing the vision of this year’s theme, “EXPLORE” into the planned learning opportunities for children.
I want to say a big thank you to Aly Vavra and all who helped coordinate our summer play dates and community events. It was wonderful to see so many of you. A big thanks to all who are helping to restructure and reinvigorate our PTO. All are welcome and encouraged to get involved. Finally, a huge thank you to Marci Hallgren, who has taken on even more “official” responsibility for operations and who has been a critical support in every possible way to prepare for the coming year.
While the majority of schools and districts are scrambling and struggling with the “return to full in-person school” narrative, we did that last fall and are fully prepared to begin the year with a solid capacity to manage mitigations. Please review the Spectrum 2021-22 Health Protocols provided in multiple places: this eBlast, on the website, and in the 2021-22 Spectrum School Handbook.
I look forward to seeing many of you at Popsicles on the Playground at 2:00pm this Saturday (8/21), and at Back to School/Supply Drop off next Thursday (8/26).
Stay well. Keep Having FUN!
