There have been a few “passings” this last week that have impacted many of us: a dear grandfather in our Spectrum community who rarely missed chaperoning a field trip, the Queen, and a grandma friend on Facebook whose bride-to-be granddaughter surprise visited her (in her yet-to-be-tailored wedding dress) in hospice so grandma could be in her wedding album. The losses have all made me want to hold my daughter and granddaughters all that much more closely. Life is precious, and loss – predictable or not, makes you wish you could have a few more words, a few more hugs, a few more laughs.
Not a typical principal message. It’s not about school. However, this last week and the coming week’s theme is FAMILY. I hope you watch the video of Early’s leading All School Share with a song they learned about family when it is available. I hope that as you reflect and talk about family with your children that there are moments of poignancy and gratitude for you. What could be more important than the love and connection we have with those closest to us and with one another?
We are planning on hosting classroom visits for grandparents and special friends towards the end of the month. Please look for information next week via a flier or email.
