Mock Trial of a Cell Phone!
Verdicts: Distraction, guilty. Must get teacher’s permission to use for educational purposes and at lunch recess. Turn off or silent notifications during class time. Disruption, not guilty. Inappropriate use, not guilty.
Statements: The phone is the tool. Teach students how to use it responsibly, allow it to be a resource for help. Address harmful or unsafe behaviors with the person who does them. It isn’t the phone’s fault.
